Who else feels like it’s Friday today? I sure do! This has been my first full week at work in four weeks, and it’s been a bit of a struggle.
Anyway, I want to tell you the story behind most of this outfit. A couple of days before we left for St. John, my mom called me one evening and asked me to meet her at Dillard’s because she was looking for a dress for my brother’s wedding. Y’all, I hadn’t been to Dillard’s in years and frankly didn’t know they still existed. Turns out they do, and so I started looking around for a dress for my mom aka looking for things for myself. I found a number of things I liked a lot and everything was reasonably priced! I think the last time I was at this store, I felt like it was meant for my grandmother. I’m not sure if they re-merchandised to revamp their image, but my perception is much different after my experience in May.
I took a lot of what I bought at Dillard’s to St. John, and that’s where these shots were taken. We were at the house my parents stayed for the week. This place was gorgeous, and I would stay there again in a heartbeat. It was called Blue Papaya and had an amazing view! The teal shutters and doors looked amazing with these shorts, so I knew it would be the perfect place to shoot!
I’m typically not much of a crop top girl, but I decided to give it a go with this cute off the shoulder pom top and the high-waisted shorts. I think this particular pairing actually looks more grown up rather than some crop top/high waisted short combos that make you look like you’re trying to be 21 when you’re really 27. ha! I’ll wear this outfit on Saturday’s when I’m out exploring Raleigh or at the beach! Perfect for those days!
