Wow! What a historical day the Inauguration of President Biden and MADAM Vice President Harris was! I teared up watching Kamala being sworn in as the first woman. It was so beautiful and really proves that women are worthy, smart and capable to hold the highest offices and positions. Anyway, what this post is about - the outfits!! There is so much to talk about with the outfits. The monochrome, the purple, the jewel tones, the solids. I thought everyone looked so good, and I loved the different brands represented. Covid-19 Memorial Embed from Getty Images First off, this was a nice ceremony, and I really respect that they honored those lives lost this year to Covid. Because this was part of the transition/inauguration exercises, I had to cover these looks. I love the Camel Coat and black that VP Harris wore. That will just always be one of my favorite combos. The magenta/plum outfit that Dr. Biden wore is beautiful and fits in with her jewel-tone color palette for the next day as well. First Lady Dr. Jill Biden wore a gorgeous blue coat, dress and mask to the Inauguration. The designer, is Alexandra O'Neill and her brand is Markarian. She is based in NYC, and created the brand in 2017. She makes custom made-to-order pieces and has dressed many celebrities including Kerry Washington, Constance Wu, Lizzo and Kate Hudson. Her website calls her designs, "special, romantic and ethereal". I agree, and the color - cerulean (which you might remember from The Devil Wears Prada) - was beautiful. I loved the velvet details with the sparkly tweed on the coat. The outfit and the First Lady were lovely. President Biden wore a conservative and traditional Ralph Lauren overcoat, suit and tie to the church service and the inauguration. Vice President Kamala Harris. Embed from Getty Images The new Madam Vice President looked radiant yesterday in her Christopher John Rogers dress and coat. The designer is based in NYC and creates "emotional & sensitive clothing with a focus on effortful dressing, directed towards an individual with a strong sense of self" according to the brand's website. The brand does not shy away from colors, as apparent from the VP's look yesterday. Former First Lady Michelle Obama. Okay, so, I'm not going to lie, this outfit is amazing and probably my favorite. The color is gorgeous on her and in general. Her hair, the flair high rise pants with the big belt give me such 70's vibes, and I'm here for it. Another Monochrome look, and she just stood out! Her outfit was designed by Sergio Hudson, a black designer from South Carolina. You can order the sweater Michelle wore on the Sergio Hudson website for $635 and his signature belt in black for $295. Former First Lady Laura Bush. Embed from Getty Images The Bushes are a classy, traditional couple. Loved that former President GWB wore an American flag mask. Former first lady Laura Bush wore practical flats and a beautiful light blue overcoat. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Embed from Getty Images In classic Hillary fashion, she wore a pantsuit by Ralph Lauren. I loved the purple, and thought the color was great on her. However, I wish her coat was black or the same color of purple. Whatever this maroon/wine color is for the coat, I'm not a fan of and think she could have done a little better. Jennifer Lopez. Embed from Getty Images JLo wore an all white Chanel outfit that was a dang stunner. This is like winter white monochrome outfit of my dreams. I mean, she must have read my winter white blog post for her inspiration for this look. I'm convinced. Biden Granddaughters. The Biden granddaughters looked sophisticated in their monochrome looks. These girls were elegantly dressed for the day, but Natalie's pink outfit definitely stood out for me. Natalie Biden. Embed from Getty Images The all pink look was so reminiscent of Jackie O. Her coat was custom made Lafayette 148 NY and was such an eye catcher. I mean I loved this one so much! This brand has beautiful ready-to-wear pieces but on the pricier side. You can shop all their coats here that are so classic! She also wore the on trend camel slouchy knee high boots! Naomi Biden & Finnegan Biden. Embed from Getty Images Finnegan is wearing the Brandon Maxwell camel dress and coat which I wish I had in my closet. Naomi is wearing an all white look by Adam Lippes. Ella Emhoff. Embed from Getty Images Ella showed up looking like she hopped off the runway in her embellished Miu Miu coat and trending black mask. She also wore a chic black headband showing that she's the trendiest of all the attendees. Lady Gaga. Embed from Getty Images Lady Gaga borrowed her outfit from the set of the Hunger games. Just kidding, but the broach gave all of us Hunger Games vibes. The ball gown is Schiaparelli, an Italian fashion house, which I had never heard of. The gold dove broach she wore was to symbolize peace and unity which was a common theme of the day. She had all the gold accessories including her microphone and earpieces which I loved. Amanda Gorman. Embed from Getty Images Amanda Gorman was literally glowing on stage. I couldn't decide if she had on a lot of flawless makeup or none at all but her skin looked perfect. Either way, the Prada headband and coat stood out along with her glowing skin and smile. My favorite quote from her poem: "There is always light, if only we're brave enough to see it. If only we're brave enough to be it." Amanda Gorman, Inauguration 2021 Bernie Sanders. Embed from Getty Images Last but not least, and the internet's favorite meme right now, Bernie Sanders. He looks like your uncle from Vermont who intended to walk to the post office but accidentally ended up at an Inauguration. He's confused, going to keep mostly to himself, trying to stay warm, but also will take some photos to commemorate the event. Anyway, his coat is a Burton ski coat (also a Vermont brand) and his gloves were made by a woman named Jen Ellis who makes mittens out of recyclables. He also wore a plain blue surgical mask ($7.99 for 50 masks on Amazon) and that was his statement for the day. What was your favorite look?
