Friday Fun vol. 3

Winter Boots | Sweatshirt | Leggings

Hey friends! I decided what better time to post my first blog post of 2019 than on Friday!

I’ve been in Colorado since Tuesday visiting my brother and sister-in-law. They live in a small town in Colorado called Salida, and it’s just so beautiful here and a much slower pace of life! The past couple of days have been a good change of scenery for me, and they’ve helped me focus on getting a new job and figuring out what I want to do with my blog, while also spending time with my family who I only get to see a few times a year. I’ll be writing a longer post on job, blog and life things for early next week. One thing I will say now is that I read a blog post on Carly the Prepster that reminded me that I own my blog and I don’t own Instagram or any other social or digital outlet. Basically I need to put most of my energy into content on here, because I control it and a change to another platform won’t be a blow to what I’m building here. So I’m recommitting to posting on my website more and creating great content for you all here!

Anyway, here are my Friday Fun favorites, some of which I’ve mentioned on my Instagram stories!

Friday Fun Favorites

Mario Badescu Glycolic Eye Cream

I’ve been using this Mario Badescu Glycolic Eye Cream since December, and I’m really loving it. It’s great for dryer skin. I apply the cream pretty thick at night and it soaks into my skin overnight. If I’m not wearing any makeup, I’ll dab some on to brighten my eyes and give a glowy look. I think the jar I have will last at least two to three more months and I use it at least every night. I’m getting a total of about four to five months (I’m guessing) from the container, and it’s very affordable for an eye cream at $20!

Sorel Boots

I am a big fan of Sorel boots in general for their cute but functional style. I will be honest and say that these are not the cheapest shoes, but they hold up extremely well and are worth the investment. I got my first pair of Sorel Joan of Arctic Wedge Chelsea booties last year that are water proof (while still being cute & comfy) that I wear all the time and get so many compliments on. I bought these Sorel Joan of Arctic boots (which are now on sale for over $70 off!) before I came out to Colorado because I knew it would be cold & snowy, so I needed something practical but cute. I wore my tall boots today and they are so warm, comfortable and breathable. I’m definitely going to be wearing these on our snow mobile adventures on Sunday! If you live in a snowy or cold climate in general or just need some boots for the few days a year you are in snow, they make great boots!

Oh Joy x Calpak Packing Cases

My parents (aka my mom) bought me these adorable packing cases for my birthday. I’ve never used packing cases before, but I’m honestly really liking them to separate my clothing into categories so I can easily find what I’m looking for and not have to dig through a pile of sweaters and pants to find a pair of socks. The Oh Joy x Calpak cases are the prettiest colors and patterns and I’m obsessed. There are floral, stripes and confetti prints! These definitely spark joy!

Vita Liberata Self Tanner

I tried this Vita Liberata Invisi ($39) self tanner in color Medium for the first time this winter. I put it on one night before bed with a tanning mit, and the next morning I woke up to beautiful tanned skin! While I did have a slight mishap on my hand (hello orange fingers), I really liked the outcome of this self tanner. It was a nice color and not streaky. My boyfriend even said it looked good after his initial skepticism! One of the biggest selling points for me is that this product doesn’t transfer onto other materials. I slept on white sheets and there was nothing on the sheets the next day, and I’m generally a hot sleeper so I was extremely relieved. On the product descriptions on ULTA and SEPHORA it explicitly says “zero risk of transfer”. The scent was not super strong like other self tanners I’ve used in the past which I appreciated. Last year, I used Saint Tropez, and while I really liked that color, it came off onto my sheets which I was not happy about. Overall, I recommend the Vita Liberata if you are trying to overcome pasty skin in the winter!

Drink of the Weekend

Last weekend I tried Yes Way Rose, and I thought it was an affordable rose – which I’m always happy to find! It wasn’t sweet and not too dry. Best way to cheers to the weekend!

Hope you all have the best weekend!

xoxo,

Cortney
