I’ve always loved curling my hair. Ever since I started playing with a curling iron as a pre-teen, I loved the curled look. However, it took me probably ten years to get to where I am today with my loose curls. I made many mistakes when I was first learning how to style curls.
Some mistakes I made, and you should avoid when curling your hair:
Curling from the bottom up
Curling the ends of my hair – this contributes to split ends!
Using a curling iron that was too skinny so I had ringlets, not loose curls
Putting on globs of hairspray so my curls were hard and didn’t move naturally
Curling either towards my face or in all different directions
What’s the Best Curling Iron?
For my long hair, I love my T3 Micro curling iron in the 1.25 inch width. Honestly, the T3 curling iron is the best one I’ve ever owned or used. It doesn’t pinch my hair when I curl it, it doesn’t get too hot and I feel like it doesn’t damage my hair like other cheaper curling irons do. The curls also hold – which is probably the most important part of all. Not to mention it’s cute and has lasted about three years now! T3 has a curling iron that has interchangeable barrels for different looks, which I didn’t know they had when I got mine years back.
My Four Rules for Curling Your Hair:
- Curl away from your face
- Start curling at the top of your hair and work your way down
- Do not curl the ends (leave about an inch out of the barrel)
- Run your fingers through your hair when you finish
