We are embarking on a Greek honeymoon which is a total dream come true. With its captivating history, breathtaking landscapes, and picturesque islands, Greece offers an idyllic setting for a romantic getaway; and we’ll be hitting Athens, Mykonos, Santorini, Paros and Crete. I’m working on planning my outfits and packing smartly to make the most of our two-week island hopping honeymoon. In this guide, I’m sharing an array of outfit ideas and valuable packing tips to ensure you’re fashionably prepared for every occasion. Discover the best way to dress for Greece and create unforgettable memories during your honeymoon.
Light and Breezy Dresses for Effortless Elegance
Greece’s warm climate calls for light and airy clothing options. Pack a variety of sundresses in vibrant colors and patterns, and keep it more chic and neutral in Mykonos where the atmosphere is a bit more trendy. Opt for flowy maxi dresses, playful wrap dresses, or elegant off-shoulder styles. These dresses will keep you cool during the day and transition effortlessly into evening wear when paired with strappy sandals or wedges. I’m going with a black, white, tan/linen, and light blue color scheme with some bright colors mixed in.
Chic Swimwear for the Beach and Boats
With Greece’s stunning beaches and crystalline waters, you’ll undoubtedly spend time soaking up the sun. We not only plan on hitting the hotel pools and gorgeous beaches, but we’re planning on a couple of days on a boat! I’ll be packing a few flattering swimsuits, including bikinis and one-pieces, in different styles and prints. I love the classic Hunza G swimsuits! Additionally, a stylish cover-up for lounging by the pool or strolling along the shore is going in my suitcase, too.
Versatile Tops and Bottoms
Choose lightweight tops that can be mixed and matched with different bottoms. Pack a few breezy blouses, tank tops, and comfortable T-shirts. Pair these with high-waisted shorts (Zara white shorts and Agolde Parker Long Jean Shorts are coming with me), linen trousers, or flowy skirts. Opt for breathable fabrics like cotton or linen to stay comfortable in the Greek heat. We are going to Greece during peak season in the middle of summer, so we are expecting hot days!
Comfortable Footwear for Exploring
Exploring Greece’s charming streets and ancient ruins requires comfortable yet stylish footwear. I’m packing a pair of comfortable walking shoes or sneakers for sightseeing and excursions. I love these New Balances and these Veja sneakers. Sandals are a must-have for beach visits and evenings out – pack a pair of dressy flats or wedges for a more polished look for dinners and going out. I’m eyeing a cute pair of double strap sandals, a pair of sneakers, my Haviana flip flops, and these espadrilles that I wore all over Italy last summer. Hopefully I can stick to 4-5 pair of shoes!
Layering Essentials
Although Greece is predominantly warm, the islands are known to be very windy. In the evenings it can become breezy and chilly. Be prepared by packing a lightweight cardigan, a denim jacket, a chic jacket or a stylish shawl that can be draped over your shoulders. These layering essentials can add a touch of style while keeping you cozy when needed.
Evening Elegance
For romantic evenings out, opt for a sophisticated dress or a chic jumpsuit. Choose fabrics like silk or chiffon for an elegant touch. Accessorize with statement jewelry, a stylish clutch, and a pair of heels or wedges to complete the look. A tailored blazer or a lightweight wrap can add an extra layer of elegance. I’m bringing my tried and true H&M Blazers that are under $50!
Packing Tips
- Roll your clothes to maximize space and minimize wrinkles.
- Pack using compression packing cubes. I’m buying these on Amazon!
- Pack versatile pieces that can be mixed and matched. Sticking to a color scheme can be helpful!
- Consider the dress codes of any upscale restaurants or clubs you plan to visit.
- Don’t forget to pack essentials like sunscreen, a sun hat, sunglasses, and a beach bag.

- Carry a lightweight day bag for your sightseeing adventures. I love this Longchamp backpack!
