Queen Emma Bridge, Fashion Blogger, Pretty All Around Blog

Happy Friday, loves! Back in July, I was invited to take a trip to Curacao. I had honestly never even heard of Curacao, so I didn’t really know what to expect. My expectations were beat! The island is such an eclectic mix of Caribbean, South American and European influence. Because we only had about two and a half days, we didn’t have time to check out all the beaches, snorkeling, scuba diving and activities that Curacao has to offer, but we hit a few highlights and had an amazing time!

THE CITY

You have to go walk around Punda and go over the Queen Emma Bridge. The buildings are so colorful and  fun and it will make you so happy! We walked around this town for a little while, but most of the stores were close as we arrived a little later in the day. We eventually stopped at small store/bar with a sign that said “World’s Best Mojito”. With a sign like that, my expectations were very low; but, let me tell you, this was actually the best mojito I’ve ever had! I honestly didn’t even realize this was a legit place because it was so tiny, but it’s  called Supreme Bar. If you’re in Curacao, go get a mojito there!

Snorkeling with Sea Turtles

Sea Turtle Diving Pretty All around Blog

My favorite activity was snorkeling with the sea turtles! My parents nicknamed me turtle as a child because I take my time doing things and move rather slowly (if you know me, you know I’m always late). Since then, I’ve been fascinated with turtles, specifically sea turtles, so this was the highlight of the trip. We booked an excursion with JJ at Caribbean Sea Sports, and he took Jay and I on a ride across the island to Playa Grandi or Playa Pescado as some people call it. He explained to us that a lot of sea turtles hang around there because there is plenty of food with fisherman coming in an out and they release turtles that have been rehabilitated from injury here. We saw at least 5 – 7 different sea turtles. I LOVED THIS, and recommend snorkeling or scuba diving with the sea turtles here! Also JJ was great with Caribbean Sea Sports!

Flamingo Sanctuary

As we drove around the island we saw a Flamingo Sanctuary! There were a ton of pink flamingos eating and a white one that was really close to us, separated from the group.

Beach Day

We chose to go to Porto Marie Beach for a few hours on Saturday. It was a beautiful beach and  they had chairs for rent and a beach bar and restaurant which was perfect! There was also a lot of shade which was nice because it was SO HOT outside of the water. Many people were snorkeling around, too. How awesome is this shot captured of the beach?!

Favorite Restaurant

The one restaurant that I will recommend is Pop’s Place. A lady who worked at our hotel told us this was the best local restaurant on the island. It’s located on Jan Thiel beach, and they have amazing authentic cuisine. The grouper and fried plantains were so good!

  1. Hey cortney!

This sounds like a great trip! I would love to go snorkeling with the sea turtles, looks like so much fun. I also loved the colorful buildings and the drone shot of the beautiful beach. I will have to look this post back up if I ever get to visit.
